Fully Funded PhD Positions at the University of Sydney: Autonomous Driving

Hi everyone. Our group currently has funding to recruit a few PhD students. The research focuses mainly on perception and mapping for autonomous driving. We're at the University of Sydney's robotics center, aka ACFR, which has about 200-300 people in total. There's free all-you-can-drink coffee from a proper café-style machine, so if you can't find a job after graduating, you can definitely become a barista (just kidding). When you're tired of working, there's a room downstairs where you can lie down and rest, plus showers, a small prayer and meditation room, standing desks, a bunch of monitors, free food every now and then, and so on. The center does all kinds of robotics research, so you can exchange ideas with people from different groups. There's a seminar every week, with speakers from inside and outside the university, from industry, and from countries like the UK and US. There are also lots of engineers, so you can focus on research: for engineering work or any specs you need, you can ask the engineers to handle it or talk it through with them. You only need to come to campus for meetings; otherwise it should be about the same as other fully funded PhDs in Australia. btw, the boss is really nice, and you can work at whatever pace is comfortable for you.
