🇸🇬 Tips for applying to study in Singapore

Want to study abroad without going too far from home, and still get good educational resources? Singapore is worth considering!

So what are the upsides of studying in Singapore, and what should you watch out for?

1⃣️ Singaporean universities put a lot of weight on work experience, and some departments even require relevant work experience, so it's best to build up as much related internship, work and project experience as you can (this probably applies to any country)

2⃣️ There are plenty of ethnic Chinese people in Singapore, but you still need to prepare for IELTS to study there, and top schools require at least 6.5 (check the requirements on the official website early and know your target score🎯)

3⃣️ Admissions at Singaporean universities vary from year to year. If you're planning to apply, always go by the official website for all information (don't be like me, I came across a lot of outdated info back then)

4⃣️ Admission is generally first come, first served, with the strongest applicants selected, so submit as soon as your materials are ready (prepare early, apply early, get admitted early)

5⃣️ If you get the chance to stay and work in Singapore, take it first. Even if you later decide to go back to Taiwan to work, the experience will count in your favor down the road (though it's not that easy to stay and work in Singapore these days⋯)

6⃣️ Schools care a lot about GPA. Especially if your background isn't great and you want to get into a top school, you need at least 3.7+ (it's the same everywhere, GPA really matters 🫠)

7⃣️ Singaporean universities have lots of exchange opportunities with other top international schools. If you're applying for undergrad, take part in exchange and visiting-student programs as much as you can!

Those were the main reasons I chose to study in Singapore～

I'll find a chance to write a post about job hunting in Singapore later!
