Studying Abroad Later in Life? Are You Sure?!
"Why study in the US?"🤨💭
Motivation is where it starts
and it's also what keeps me going on this journey
Let me start with the bottom line: I want to achieve work-life balance (WLB) („• ֊ •„)੭
and experience a more upstream work environment at the same time
As someone who grew up and went to school in Taiwan
I had no clear idea in high school about what to major in at university
and no sense of how to connect a major to a future career and plan for it
But I was lucky enough to get into National Taiwan University
I had never thought about studying abroad, nor did I have the resources to
After graduating, I worked in Taiwan's tech industry for seven years
then made the bold decision to go back to school
This time, the destination is the US
Looking back on business trips, living abroad and study trips
I've been to more than thirty countries🛫
but every time I felt like just a passerby
In recent years, I've been thinking hard about what kind of life I want in the future
and studying in the US became a chance to build on my previous work experience
as well as an important step toward my goals
Since college, I've stumbled along the way
kept crossing into different fields
gone through a series of ups, downs and changes
and faced all kinds of worries and problems
I hope to leave a digital record on this platform
to offer some reference and inspiration to anyone feeling lost on their career path
When I used to imagine life after thirty
I thought it would be stable, with a car, a home and a family
But in this aging society where life expectancy is over eighty
thirty is just the beginning
and life holds many more possibilities
I truly believe this journey will open new doors for me
and help me become a better version of myself🙌
I look forward to sharing the bits and pieces of this journey as it unfolds
