📍 Why I chose Warwick!

Besides Warwick's strong ranking in this field, I wanted to take more programming courses. After asking upperclassmen who had studied the same program and reading what they shared about their experience, I weighed everything and decided that, of the schools that admitted me, Warwick's curriculum fit my needs best. So in the end I chose Warwick!

📍 So I wouldn't have regrets, I made up my mind!

Ever since I was little, I'd wanted to go abroad and experience a different culture. I did find a job after graduating, but I still felt lost about the future. I also thought I should go see the world while I'm still young, or I'd regret it when I'm old😆. That's why I decided to study abroad.

📍 Check each school's requirements

Most people probably apply to more than one school, so I think you should check each school's application requirements while preparing. That way you won't suddenly discover during the application that your English test score might not meet the bar. And when writing your SOP, you'll also have a clearer idea of which qualities each school values more, so you can fine-tune the SOP for that school.

📍 Choose your program based on your future goals

The most straightforward way is to ask yourself: what are your future goals? What are you interested in? What do you want to learn and keep digging into? Once you've set the general direction, look up related programs on each school's official website and see which program's courses best fit your needs.

📍 The SOP is the hardest

For me, the SOP was the hardest document to prepare. I had already organized my experience when writing my CV, which helped a lot with the SOP. But while a CV lists your experience point by point, an SOP asks you to use that experience to show your qualities, and what motivated you to apply to that program. Weaving all my experience into a persuasive, engaging SOP within a limited word count was the biggest challenge for me.

📍 On-campus or off-campus housing?

Personally, if the price is reasonable and the dorm facilities are good, I'd lean toward living on campus. Besides being convenient for classes, you can go back to your room to rest between classes, and it's relatively safe. But Warwick's on-campus housing is way more expensive than off-campus🤣, and for the same price you can get something better in the city center. So after weighing the pros and cons, I chose to live off campus.

📍 A few words for everyone

Planning to apply: if you're still in college, take related courses and do internships to make your application more competitive. Also, every time you finish an assignment, project or activity that will help your application, write it down right away and sort it by semester. Preparing your CV and SOP will be much easier!

Preparing now: when I was preparing, I often read other people's posts, which made me super unconfident about my applications. I kept thinking, how could I possibly stand out among so many impressive people? But it turned out I was just scaring myself🤣. So what I want to say is: have confidence in yourself. We may think our experience is nothing special, but to others it might show a really important quality! You've got this!!!
