Folks, turns out you can use Excel like this
Today I want to share a really efficient way to memorize vocabulary: using Excel! Whether it's TOEFL, IELTS or GRE, memorizing words is such a pain, because language tests demand a big vocabulary. Sometimes we've only just memorized a word, and the next day we see it and can't remember it
So how can we memorize words quickly and make them stick? Today I'll show you a way to memorize vocabulary with Excel
Here's how it works:
First, type the words into Excel by hand, following the word list you're studying. You can pick whichever list you're already using, such as the TOEFL core 800 words or a GRE vocabulary list.
Next, type the number 1 after each word you don't know. After finishing the first round, go back and review. If you find you still can't remember what a word means, type the number 2 after it, and so on.
Finally, sort the words in descending order, from highest to lowest.
That way, each time you review, the words at the top are the ones you forget most easily. We're most focused at the start, but over time our attention may drift, and in the end all we remember is Abandon.
It's a really simple method, but it honestly got me through all 3000 GRE words…
Once your vocabulary is bigger, the GRE gets so much easier. I hope everyone beats vocab memorization and gets their scores soon!!!
