Why Australia? Why Nursing?
Growth starts with stepping out of your comfort zone; face change bravely
Why Australia?
To me, Australia was a vast land I had never explored.
All I knew came from my childhood geography textbook: there's a huge rock called "Uluru" in the middle of Australia
and there are cute kangaroos and koalas. That was it.
Many people may ask why you'd study abroad anywhere other than the US, Canada or the UK.
Those are the developed countries we have traditionally seen as better, with better teaching resources.
But Australia's international education resources and its future development may go beyond what you imagine.
Why Nursing?
Nurses are in shorter and shorter supply in country after country.
Clinical nurses are leaving the profession and the population is aging, so the demand for nurses grows every year.
According to Australian research, by 2035 there will be close to 80,000 more full-time nursing jobsNote 1
Most of these openings are in acute and critical care, clinics and aged care homes.
By now you may be thinking: why would I become a nurse? The workload is heavy and the pay is low.
In Australia you may see the exact opposite. (Speaking from my experience at an emergency hospital in Australia: it's not busy at all!)

What other people don't want to do is often exactly where the big opportunities are.
