Building an application mindset: a lonely but worthwhile process of introspection (getting rid of anxiety😐)
Personally, I think everyone has at least a bit of depression/anxiety in them, especially when you suddenly relax after a busy stretch; the depression keeps taking over your mind.
First, I'll admit it: I'm very anxious.
Back then, my anxiety wasn't a completely insurmountable obstacle, so I tried to keep it under control before it added extra stress to my life. I looked for lots of ways, and to sum them up in one sentence: give yourself a little more time!
Extra time, so you can change your surroundings at a steady pace.
Extra time to work your full-time job to support your application (easing the financial/budget side).
Since you have a goal in mind, you can use some free time to read and keep up with the latest in your field.
Explore any way to manage stress (the gym, the movies, games... anything that keeps your head clear).
Taking care of yourself matters more than any career achievement. Before reaching my career goals, what I learned was to take a good look at my own state and face my application process and finances with a healthy mindset!
Even though there seem to be some gaps right now, I embrace these issues and treat them as goals to work toward in my next stage. That let me face my applications with ease (and I got an offer!)
