I Can Still Make It! Australia July 2025 Intake Application Timeline
If you've read the chart above or the text below and still aren't sure how to plan for an Australian July 2025 intake, fill in the form at the very bottom and contact me directly. Everyone's situation is different. Your admission chances matter when applying to Australia, but the application timeline is just as important not to overlook!
📍 Australia July intake
Australian universities have February and July intakes (this post covers July). Whether or not you're a current graduating student, it's best to submit your visa application in April. The vast majority of programs start in July; a few only offer a February start.
📍 July - September
In July-August, share the programs you're interested in, have a consultant assess which schools fit you, and take IELTS for the first time to see where your English stands. Use that to decide whether you need to add an English for Academic Purposes course (EAP).
In September, prepare your application documents in Chinese and English:
Transcript
Certificate of enrollment (not needed if you've graduated)
Passport, CV (required if you're not a current graduating student)
Degree certificate (if you're not a current graduating student, it can't be submitted later)
IELTS (can be submitted later)
📍 October
In October, once you've settled the order of preference for your schools + programs, submit your applications! You'll usually get admission decisions within about 12 weeks, though in a few cases it takes longer.
📍 November - December
Take IELTS a second time. If you meet the direct-entry requirement, decide which school you want to attend and let your consultant know; if you need to add EAP, contact your consultant, and pay close attention to application deadlines.
📍 January - February
Accept your offer: pay the university deposit + provide proof of insurance. Housing: start looking into on- and off-campus room types, prices, locations, transportation and so on. Housing booked at this point is relatively cheap, and there's more choice.
📍 March - April
Confirm your housing, and submit your visa application + medical exam. The visa result takes about (4-12 weeks).
📍 May - June
Start looking at flights and book one. Graduating students need to make sure they can provide their degree certificate + full transcript by the date the school sets. Also start packing; you can refer to pre-departure guides online, and making a checklist helps you keep track.
📍 July
Once your documents and luggage are ready, off you go, happy to head abroad. The week before classes officially start is usually Orientation Week.
