Japan's Most Fired-Up Waseda–Keio Game (Sōkeisen)🔥|Cheering at a College Baseball Game for the First Time⚾️
First, let me clear this up for everyone! What is Sōkeisen?
The answer🔽 It's the matchup between the Waseda University and Keio University baseball teams
I only learned this term after starting at Waseda xd

In class I even happened to draw “Sōkeisen” as my topic for the final presentation
After doing some research, I found out it's a story with a hundred years of history!

📍This is a graphic we made for our presentation
During my year in Japan I went to two Sōkeisen games, both at Meiji Jingu Stadium⚾️

Before the game there are all kinds of warm-up events on campus❤️🔥
promoting the game and inviting everyone to come cheer📣

The first time, my friends and I even bought Waseda baseball jerseys to cheer in
At the stadium that day, the energy was off the charts, pure youthful excitement🔥
Students from both schools wear their own school's gear and head out to cheer🤩

Outside the stadium, both schools have stalls selling all sorts of cheering gear xd
Caught up in the moment, our group actually bought a set of cheering gear
When I walked into the stadium I literally gasped. So spectacular!

Up front, cheerleaders lead everyone in cheering (so cute......) and then there's a whole series of elaborate cheers 🎉✨💪
including everyone standing up to sing the school song and shouting Waseda's own cheers
I've honestly never been this fired up in my life!

Halfway through it was just too hot, so I escaped to the food court to cool off + get something icy xd
Japanese stadium food courts have a great variety of food too! There are even player collab meal sets😍📣

After the game, the two schools take turns singing their school songs to cheer each other on

We were still totally pumped after the game🥵

We followed our club around outside the stadium taking all kinds of photos, and finished with the classic karaoke🎤

To me these scenes were straight out of a Japanese drama
Such a wonderful memory, one I'll always treasure!⚾️

That's my little Disney share~ More of my life on IG ✨🐰💗
