一封好的推荐信应该长什么样？

推荐信作为留学申请中唯一的第三方 input，在申请过程中的重要性不可忽视！招生官希望从这一个文件中看到别人眼中的你，而不是重复叙述履历或 SOP/PS 中提过的内容或成就。一封好的推荐信应该是由推荐人自己写，从第三人的视角向学校推荐你，所以「举例」就显得非常重要！举例能够让学校更加了解你跟推荐人的关系，并且通过过往事例去告诉学校你在团队中扮演的角色。如果只是通过推荐信去写出客观事实（成就、成绩、排名等等），则会过于平庸且与其他申请材料的重复性过高，应该要用说故事的方式去让学校知道「在推荐人眼中」你是如何达成这些成就、你跟其他同侪相比的优势等等。

如果你找留学代办帮忙准备文书，他们帮每一届甚至每一位学生都准备类似的推荐信模板，并且用相似的写作手法跟语法，这种推荐信交出去后，学校只会觉得千篇一律、了无新意，甚至同一位学生的两三个推荐信都长得相似，导致学校认为文件是学生代拟的。这篇文章将会提供一些推荐信的见解，和如何引导教授或主管写出 Solid 且 Supportive 的推荐信。

这个段落列出了美国 Top 10 MBA 申请时，学校最常发给推荐人的 10 个问题。虽然申请 MS 时，学校通常不会限定方向或给予指定问题，但是可以参考以下问题，去了解学校想要在推荐信中看到什么内容。

以下 10 个问题中，前面 6 个是多个 MBA 都共同指定推荐人要回答的问题。由此可知，学校通常会想了解以下几个要点：跟其他同侪相比，申请人的表现和具体例子；推荐人曾给申请人的建设性意见以及申请人的回应；推荐人认为申请人可以为学校社群贡献什么；推荐人为什么认为申请人可以在职涯中获得成功…….

6. Please provide example(s) that illustrate why you believe this candidate will find success throughout their career.

7. [School X] has a diverse student body and values students who are inclusive and encouraging of others with differing perspectives and backgrounds. Please tell us about a time when you witnessed the candidate living these values.

8. In the [School X], we develop leaders who embody our distinctive culture's four key principles, one of which is “confidence without attitude” or “confidence with humility”. Please comment on how the applicant reflects this [School X] value.

9. Share how you feel the applicant will contribute to the [School X] classroom and community.
