Plugging my own talk! My Erasmus MaMaSELF joint master's degree in Europe. See you at NTHU on 10/16~

Hello, I'm Owen. I'm very happy that my 2-year master's has come to a successful end. For more than 2 years, I've been promoting my articles, podcast and videos on my own channels and on the big study-abroad platforms. You can find my work on WillStudy, Medium, Crossing (換日線), OfferLand.cc and more.

This time, though, I finally get the chance to give a talk back at my alma mater, National Tsing Hua University. It's on 10/16 at 19:00. It's currently open to the whole university and to other colleges and universities. If you're interested in studying abroad or life in Europe, you're welcome to sign up and come meet me. Of course, I'm actually pretty stressed right now, haha~

I'm designing the talk so that people from different majors can all learn something and hear about what I saw and experienced, and I'll do my best to build in interactive parts! So just come with an open mind and be a cross-border player with me!

Anyway, please come to my talk! See you at NTHU on 10/16!

Only kids have to choose~ That's right, I'm the kid who chose Europe

My Erasmus MaMaSELF EU joint master's in materials

Speaker: Owen Chen (陳郁仁)

Studying in Europe means being greedy! Keep an open mind, take on different fields and become a cross-disciplinary expert, and of course hop on trains and planes on weekends to get to know country after country. For this talk we've invited alumnus Owen Chen (陳郁仁) from the Engineering and System Science class of 22 to share his two years of studying abroad. This year Owen earned the Erasmus MaMaSELF joint master's in materials from LMU Munich and the Technical University of Munich in Germany and the University of Turin in Italy, and along the way he interned at Germany's synchrotron radiation center (DESY) and the European Synchrotron Radiation Facility (ESRF) in France. The talk covers school applications and academic study, plus his experience outside class with music, football, travel and running a column. Being a cross-border player in Europe means being like a kid: bravely trying new options and opening up new horizons.

In this talk you'll learn:

l Your exchange got canceled? You can still get back up and try again!

l How do you apply for an Erasmus master's in Europe? Where are the scholarships?

l How the Erasmus MaMaSELF program is structured

l Academic culture in Germany, Italy, France and Poland compared

l Research on biomimetic materials and crystals

l Lab experience at the DESY and ESRF synchrotron radiation centers

l Stories from my journey as a cross-border player in Europe

Please put these in the sign-up form, as material everyone can look at and discuss before the talk.
